So it has been brought to my attention in the past week of Sen. Jesse Helms died on July 4th. I was not a big fan of this man, yet I don't know of any minority that was.
So ding dong Jesse Helms has passed on to get his judgment for his afterlife. I mean the man caused hell on earth and he was not going to change his backwards ways of thinking for anyone.
The funny thing about all of this is that the papers state that he died of natural causes. They don't want to admit that the man died of some horrible disease brought upon him by Karma.
The first sign that is a dead give away that a person caused hell on earth and has hell to pay, declining health Come on people the man fought against basic civil rights and they want to label him as a hero. This is NOT funny but SERIOUS.
The sad part of that happens to be the reactions of the people over his death. It is almost like the government was completely oblivious to all the things that this man did but yet there were only two comments posted in opposition to Jesse Helms. One from Reverend Jesse Jackson, At the height of his power, he fought for the values of the old confederacy. He resisted the new South. He resisted the opportunity to fight for a more perfect union." and the other from Joe Solomnese of the human rights campaign, "Jesse Helms' legacy is one of hatred, homophobia and racism. Although not its intent, that legacy has made our community stronger and more able to forcefully respond to bigotry and prejudice. As a community, we are more committed than ever to securing full equality for all GLBT people."
Also according to some papers, As he aged, Helms was slowed by a variety of illnesses, including a bone disorder, prostate cancer and heart problems, and he made his way through the Capitol on a motorized scooter as his career neared an end. In April 2006, his family announced he had been moved into a convalescent center after being diagnosed with vascular dementia, in which repeated minor strokes damage the brain.
The man said no to everything! "No to civil rights. No to abortion. No to communism. No to the United Nations. No to gay rights. No to arts funding with nakedness. No to school busing. No to the U.S. giving up the Panama Canal. No to a nuclear arms reduction treaty called Salt II.
"You needed that job ... but they had to give it to a minority."--Helms
So when Helms is standing at those pearly gates I hope the Lord says to him NO, We needed that spot in heaven so we gave it so a minority and those who repented.
