A Gamer becomes Mayor.

A 19 year old becomes mayor of his town in Oklahoma. He's just a year past high school graduation. News say he campaigned about the issue important to his community but what can a 19 yr old do. Remember he's technically still a teenager. He can't even drink, the legal age is 21. So even if he wanted to go hang out at a bar with coworkers he couldn't. Let's think of all the things a 19 year old can do: go to school, enlist, go to war, smoke, drive, and oh yes they can now become mayors.

In all honesty I think that the old people fell asleep on the day that the vote needed to be cast and the new young voters took advantage. His only competition was a 70 year old man. A 19 year old versus a 70 year old. What are the odds? Just think if there wasn't an age requirement required for a person to be president. There would be a 19year old in office as president and our wars would be fought through Playstation and Xbox360.

Yes the 19 year old mayor, is a gamer. So and strategies for foreign policy will be created through video game companies, war would be fought through technological advances in the video gaming industry, and if anything went wrong you could always restart the game.

The Anti-Discrimination Bill

Bush signs the Anti-Discrimination bill. Ok, I honestly think that this is a last ditch effort to save face with the minorities for the republican party in this upcoming presidential race.

This bill is for insurance companies so that they do not discriminate against people based on genetics, or better yet, any disease that can be contributed to bad genetics. The historical context comes into play is because this is considered one of the greatest pieces of civil rights legislation.

At first thought, discrimination on genetics has been the crux of this great nation that we call the United States of America. Does the one-drop rule ring a bell, or better yet the classification through blood quantity. The whiter the better. So now all of a sudden we can't have our corporations discriminating, so policies are enacted such as affirmative action. Affirmative action deserves a blog all on its own. Discrimination occurs 24/7. What this bill seems to do is cut down on the cost that people would have to pay for insurance based upon their being predisposition based upon genetics.

I don't know what side of the century that some people woke up on. But I could have sworn that without people of color fighting for rights, no one else would have any rights for this bill to even be under consideration.

Guitar Hero

So I'm new to the whole guitar hero thing. As a matter of fact Guitar Hero 3 was the second game that I purchased on my Nintendo Wii. I had seen the game before but never really played it until I bought it. I liked playing the game so much so, that I brought Guitar Heros 1 and 2 for the Playstation 2. It is a great game although the Nintendo Wii's version lacks in downloadable songs and other content. Now I have to say that other than that, the game is great. It is easy to pick up and learn how to play. The only downside is the tutorial is super long and there is no options for fastfowarding through parts. Despite downloadable content the game has great online play capabilities everything can be played online except for co-op career. Other than that it is great that Activision decided to release this game on Nintendo.
Now after some time, Guitar Hero is continuing it series and is releasing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The game appears to be awesome. It will be something to buy because like Guitar Hero 3 there will be bundle, in which comes with a custom guitar as well as the game. I'm not expecting this game to have any new features but rather buy it for all the playable songs by the artist and the cool new guitar.

I am waiting for the Guitar Hero: World Tour to hit the shelves so that I won't have to waste money on Rock Band. I can simply just keep all my Guitar games to one happy medium. Now if the hype for Guitar Hero: World Tour is so great that, might encourage me to upgrade my game system.

But this is all in a days play for a video gamer.
Trust me, being a mom, Guitar Hero has become a life-saver and a stress reliever.

The Future for China's Children

So China has become severely devastated by earthquakes in the past weeks. My heart goes out to everyone being affected. There is one thing that I found interesting about the whole thing, the lift on the banned for having ILLEGAL children. So there was a law implement in the 1970's for a one child limit in China due to overpopulation. Within this are a few loop holes. A family can have another child if the first child was a girl. Right there is one problem. Men are seen as the only possible heirs that families have so right now there are probably thousands of orphan girls. The reason for this being that families are charged per child after the first child. The first child is allotted many freedoms that the country allows, like education, while any additional children have to be paid for. On top of having to supply for each child that a family can have, they have to pay taxes on each child after the first one. Well to me this is bring to mind an issue of slavery, or better yet the 3/5ths rule. So China makes it very expensive and difficult for families with multiple children.

So let's revisit the case in which a family is allowed to have a second child, if their first born happens to be a girl. Let's say that they are lucky enough to have a boy, then the boy will get all the rights, that the oldest child once received and the family will have to pay for having the girl in the household. This necessity for having a male child has lead to an increase in abortions, abandoned girl children and an increase in the male population.

Now back the the earthquakes. With death tolls reaching into the hundreds of thousands, China is thinking to bend a few of the one child per family rules. For one the death of parents is causing many children to become orphans overnight, and families are being affected also with the loss of children. Therefore the families that only had the one child, are now childless. Now for the families that had more than one child and the oldest was a boy and happened to die, families can apply for one of their other illegal children to take their place, so as not to continue paying taxes, or if any of the other children died in the multi-person family, then the family can apply to not have to continue to pay taxes on their dead children.
So at this point no one can tell what lies in store for the future of this law. Maybe the abandoned children will get a family, or maybe this will just spark another baby boom.

The Revamped Gladiator

So I'm just sitting here watching the new gladiator, or rather the revamped gladiator. It is quite a revisit to the 70's and 80's without the hair. The 70's:

And the upgraded version: There hasn't been many changes in the bodies of the gladiators other than facial expressions. The gladiators of the 70's look friendlier given that the era was different and they didn't have all the challenges and stresses that the new and improved gladiators have to face, whatever that may be.
Other than that there have been some upgrades to the stage and a few of the games have some new twist. The main thing now is the requirement of all the participants to be able to swim because of the big pool that you can either fall into or get knocked into. More often than not, its because a person is being knocked into it.

The gladiators are roughly the same as they had always been, except a few key characters that I thought I'd mention. Well the hosts are Laila Ali, and Hulk Hogan. This seems to be funny because even with the famous host, the rest of the gladiators look like a bunch of WWE rejects for the men, and the women look like a bunch of playboy bunnies on steroids.

Now on to the two funny looking gladiators. Helga is a interesting woman on the show. She is a huge gladiator and she towers over the rest of the woman. Just like the rest of the women she has beauty but Helga sounds like a man when she speaks. WHOA.
And there is the gladiator Titan. Titan is good looking at first glance. That's only at first glance. Man he's had so many surgeries that at second glance you would this it was David Hasslehof. And you can tell because the skin around his face doesn't move with any type of emotion. It's creepy.
Other than that competition on the show is still as fierce, no matter how many decades that it's been.

Cheating

There are different types of cheating. But the one that I want to talk about today is cheating within relationships. I don't want to go into the psychological reasons for why people cheat, I only want to get some things off my mind. Can a cheater change his/her ways? Can a person truly trust a partner again after he or she has been cheated on? Should that person deserve to earn your trust back. What if kids are involved what do you do then? Is the relationship even worth salvaging? If you have answered no to any of the following questions then you need to leave that person alone. I don't even care how many years you have, or how much potential you see coming out of there, its not even worth it. I have not had my share of relationships only 4 seemed to make a lasting standpoint in my life. 1 being the first guy I ever dated while in high school, the relationship lasted for only two years and ended because I greatly desired to go to college. The 2nd relationship happened 3 years after the first but during my first year of college. That was on and off for about 2 years as well. There were our share of ups and downs and now the relationship has its best fit as a friendship. Now the 3rd relationship only makes a case, simply because it was the only relationship in which the guy threatened to kill me if we broke up, so we broke up and I had the police escort me home for my safety.

Now on to the 4th guy in which I have a child by. Which seems to be the worse case scenario known to man. Well he's been accused once of sleeping with other women. One being an ex, which he slept with while I was 6 months pregnant. Ok so I find this out a year later and he's more upset that I found out about it through his ex girl rather than admit he had done this act, after being asked about it 3 TIMES. Ok, now this is where trust comes into play. Getting lied to this whole time, and a person you think loves you puts your health in danger as well as a unborn child all because you THINK that they are being faithful to you, I can understand how some people act on the Maury show. So how long does it take to regain trust? and is this process even worth it? Honestly I don't think that it is even possible to fully trust someone again after trust has been violated and the violation has been proven to be true. But let's just say you stick it out and hope that things get better.

So after a period of time the violated person forgives and is able to reopen the heart to be able to trust again, just for a little, another trial run before the end-all of solutions. In my particular case I tried but I still kept my alerts up. So no this same person stands accused of sleeping around with coworkers. He swears up and down that its not true, even offers to call the girl he's accused of sleeping with as proof. But who's to know that they just lie for each other? But you find hard proof that they are sleeping with another person, this time they make trophies out of it and even brag about conquests and hopes of future encounters. Now where does that leave YOU? Let's see, heartbroken, victimized, hurt, angry, ashamed, and the list can go on forever. Cheaters are always cheaters. They will never change because of the thrill of something new or different, the thrill of lying, the thrill of not being caught, or some other stupid psychological explanation. Cheaters can't be changed just as the saying goes "You can't turn a ho into a housewife."

Fool me once, same on you; fool me twice... and you know the rest. There will not and should not be anymore given opportunities. If a cheater can't realize what they are losing before committing such an asinine act, then someone else out there will.

Robbed at the GAS Pump

Ok gas has just reached $4.00 here in good ol' north cackalacky. I'm not a big fan of people being highway robbed at the pump. I mean gas, it is the means for everything, work, school, it is plain NECESSARY for transportation to exist. After thinking a few things over I've come to the conclusion that the high gas is just a conspiracy. But Bush in office and make all the poor people poorer and the rich people/ gas companies richer. Things will only change when the rich people start complaining about the price of gas, or its cutting into profits. For a while there I thought that car companies were in cahoots with the oil companies because cars keep getting more expensive as a person wants to start to buy a car to get more MPG. Well thats not true anymore, especially when car companies like FORD are cutting the production of its pickup trucks and SUV's because its loosing profit. The big companies loosing money, big Whoop. Why? Because the federal government is quicker to bail out a declining fortune 500 than it is to make sure that the American people can survive daily. Another thing is hybrid and electric cars. It's bad that people can barley afford one car but it is becoming more of a need to get these alternative cars, which are very overpriced because of supply and demand. When demand becomes high because of these gas prices, the prices of these automobiles will skyrocket. I would love to trade in a current vehicle for the alternative but that isn't possible, I'd be out $11,000 and that would be added to the current value of the alternative. So my hybrid vehicle would cost me $11,000 more that the actual value for starters. There has to be a way of getting the necessary technology out there, its called mass production, but somethings or some companies are putting a hold on the mass production of technology that would greatly help the American public all to makes sure they continue making a profit. This is where president Bush comes in again. He's going to leave office a very rich man because of the chaos he's creating with the rising gas prices, declining economy, loss of jobs, high home foreclosures, etc.

Why of all the years has gas been such of an importance? I have never had to choose between food and gas, ever in my life. I remember when there was a time in which $5 bux would get me almost half a tank. What is the world coming to? The economy won't get any better if the people that are supposed to be stimulating the economy can't. And what the hell is 600 dollars going to do, what is that going to stimulate, the the way gas prices are heading, 600 covers 6 tanks or less of gas. That stimulus check on stimulates anger what is the federal government thinking? Oh wait, I know, give the people money and they will forget that the gas is increasing. The but a bandaid will not work. Open your eyes people something has to be done. What is happening to the American people is highway robbery. Because of GAS everything is taking a hit: food industry, travel industry, electricity. This is all parts of life. I guess I won't be taking that road trip across the US anytime soon, not until wages start to level back out with this spike in gas and food prices.

If you can't take the gas hike then here are some possible solutions to your gas problem: get a bike, walk, car pool, get a scooter (if its in your budget), picket against the rising gas prices (if you on the verge of loosing your job because you can't afford to get there), use public transportation if its available, or buy an electric or hybrid car( this is very expensive and the government isn't making it any easier for people to be able to afford these alternatives to gas).

Domestic Violence

According to domesticviolence.org any type of abuse of a person by another is considered domestic violence. It is usually necessary for victims to get out of the relationship and as safely as possible. Anyone can be a victim. Most happen to be women in abusive relationships but children are also victims, in watching and perpetuation of generational violence, which brings to mind the phrase "like father like son." So what about those single parents? Where do these children pick up the violent behaviors? Tv, video games, environment, genetics? There maybe many factors contributing to violence, but one thing is for sure is that no one should suffer through abuse because for love. Because if a person really loved you then the abuse would not happen. No love is worth loosing your life or your children to loose a parent over. I've witnessed my fair share of beatings to know that it isn't worth waiting for a person to change if they never do. The scary part about this is that growing up in such an environment desensitized me from future occurrences because I knew that no matter what my mom would go back to my dad. No amount of pleading and crying to stay away persuaded my mom enough, not until my parents got a divorce. Many abusive relationships make it to the divorce before somethings tragic happens. I honestly wished I had never bore witness to the brutality and violence but I did and that has made me very cautious around the guys that I had becomes involved with, there were many warning signs: wanting to control who I was around, not wanting me to continue activities even when they knew I had participated in activities before I'd met them, not wanting me to continue my education for fear of me making more money. But the key for me was the want to control every aspect of my life, and usually after a month or three of getting to know the person the true self came out, and I was able to comfortably leave the relationship. But there are many that aren't so lucky. Many people die at the hands of their abusers.
This mother urges anyone who thinks that someone they know is being abused to seek help, call 911, or check out this website for more information: www.domesticviolence.org

Jobless in America

With economy steadily declining and gas prices steeply increasing. It has become hard to get to work and better yet get a job. There is not enough money in circulation to aid the increasing problems that the American people are facing. Let's list, most people with over 10 years experience in a job are starting to loose their jobs. Where does this leave them? For one, without a job, and two lack of educational experience to get another job sooner. So what are most of the unlucky people doing? They are going back to school. Its odd that now it seems that the idea of becoming a professional student will come to actually of actually being a job. Why a job? Well is school will be needed to secure a job but yet an education can't guarantee a person a job because the great possibility of someone else being more qualified then that would me people would be in school indefinitely which leads to more people being labeled a student as a profession. Where does this leave most people? In debt in which debt will continue to accrue as long as people take out loans to further their education in order to further their chances of landing a secure jobs.

Nothing is secure and it is sad that people have to suffer the loss of jobs after so many years since graduating from high school.

Can't find a job? Well I can't help you because I can't find a job either. After scouring over hundreds and hundreds of job listings since September 2007 I haven't landed a job yet. I have a 4yr degree and working on a Masters. And you ask what went wrong with me? I don't know but I've even looking into taking other classes just to get certifications to get entry level jobs, but I have to wait for unemployment to be able pay for those extra certifications. I've even thought of dumbing down my resume to even make it seem that I've only graduated from high school and that's the only job that I would only be able to qualify for. I'm either over qualified or under-experienced for certain jobs. That eats away at my soul but I keep on ticking. I've even posted to babysitting, usually jobs left to teenage girls trying to make some spending money, but I'm a mom trying to make ends meet.

I think that this stimulus check the government will be sending out, mine will be spent in gas, driving around looking for job. How does that help me, a mom, whose sole means of employment will be a job as a professional student with no way of paying back those educational loans or advancing towards the achievement of the "American Dream." As an undergrad I was guaranteed upon graduation that my degree would give me a certain status within the world, I have yet to reap the benefits of that supposed status.

Dealing with divorce

Can a child really handle a divorce? Most sources say no and it could possibly have some similar outcomes as children of single parent households. Well if you were in my family you would understand the process of the divorce was much harder than the actual day the divorce was final. Given that I'm the oldest of four this presents itself with some statistics. When my parents divorced I was in middle school and the rest of my siblings were in the middle or just starting elementary school. Now given that I was older I had the majority of my time was spent with both my parents being available. Now here come the stats. 2 out of my moms children, including me, graduated from high- school. The other two did not but are either seeking or obtained a GED. Out of the first two to finish high school only one, me, has graduated from a 4-yr university. So this long and harsh divorced created limitations for my younger siblings, not having two parents readily available and not having the discipline of two parents greatly affected how we each were raised. This is seems a parallel to a single parent home. Well my mom was doing much of the raising, or at least she thought she was. There were numerous times in which I was left in charge of my three younger siblings for months on end. Does this mean that I failed my siblings because I couldn't get them to the level that I have been able to achieve thus far in my life? Such weight on the shoulders of the oldest child. Being responsible or not, I don't think that it is a child's responsibility to make sure that th raise their siblings right. That is a lot of unnecessary pressure that no one needs but millions of older siblings endure because they understand that the grass may be greener on the other side, or in better words, that grass exist on the other side.

Another point to divorce is that kids blame themselves for the break up. I totally understand this but that's not the case for my family. Domestic violence was the cause for this divorce. My parents were better apart than they are together and I think that the violence that my siblings an I watched growing up as children for two generations, our grandparents and our parents, was just something that we saw as normal. This so called normal view skewed when one finds that that's not how things should be.

With the divorce rate rising we will start to see the day in which the children of divorced parents and children of single parent homes will become interchangeable. This Mother does not approve of putting all adult responsibilities on a child or does not approve of thinking children understand the entire adult world. Parents should be honest with their children and don't let their children take the heat for whats going wrong in the adults life.

Mrs. Obama

It seems that after the Jeremiah Wright trouble, the media seems to want to find everything thing wrong that they can with Senator Obama. Can a person truly not go into politics with a blank slate as well as a positive background. Not saying that Obama is a blank slate, he has apparently been involved long enough to become a US Senator. Now The issues with Jeremiah Wright almost cost Obama the presidential race. All this hullabaloo about a few sound bites that are more than a 5 years old, that were taken completely out of context. Truthfully a person would have to listen to the entire sermon in order to understand why the reverend said what he said. To take the clips as the entire face value of what the reverend said is baloney.

Now on to the second issue Michelle Obama. If you don't know the womans name by now look it up. I'm pretty suer there are only a few Obama families around. Now her wuote may have been something along the words that she is finally able to say that she is proud to be an American. WOW. Big whoop right. Well so the white people this is an insult to the great nation that they built of the Blood, Sweat, and Tears of Black and Indians or can we refer to them as hyphenated Americans African Americans and Native Americans. Even with all that bad blood between people there is still the feelings that people can't truly understand what it means to be American. You want to know why? Well a huge percentage of people immigrate to the United States because there are looking to live the so-called "American Dream" but the people living here in poverty and barely able to make ends meet, can't even live the "American Dream" can anyone see the problem in that? So now the media is trying to spin the words of a woman because she just happens to be married to a presidential candidate. Yes the eyes are on her like an eagle. But I'm sure millions of people feel the same way just think back to Vietnam or any other time when the people of the United States weren't so proud of their country. Get over it we live in a time now in which United State citizens can be killed for being United States citizens, this is why people maintain dual citizenships so as to get such terrors. I'm sometimes proud to be an American. So there I said it. It has taken me a long learning process. One in which mixed raced peoples and minorities were once hated to group up in a country in which I don't have to worry so much about stepping on land mines or being bombed in the middle of the night. It is for those reasons that I'm glad I'm on the American side of things because I will be able to live in a land that claims to be the land of the 'free.' Can I be truly proud to be of a people that mistreat their most impoverished and where animals have more rights that minority people's. For that I can say I'm only a Fair-weather American. I can only be proud when it benefits me and so far I have yet to reap and benefits in a country which my ancestors and I have sewn out Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

"The only thing to fear is fear itself." Whites fear blacks coming into power so much that they are willing to make up anything about the Obama's in order to make sure that he does not become the Commander in Chief of the White United States of America. Scared people to scary things in order to keep certain things from happening. The Obama's are the power couple that actually reflects the meaning of true family and American values. What makes them so scary is they haven't broken any laws unlike some of our former presidents. The are the force to be reckoned with and the force to make the necessary changes that all Americans need in order to follow in that pursuit of happiness.
So Yes, "Lay off his wife"

Better late than NEVER

So Senator John Edwards finally endorses Senator Barack Obama. It's about freaking time. I mean it seems as if Senator Edwards was waiting to see who would get closest to winning so as to enhance his chances of being a VP. There is nothing wrong with that because some sources state that his decision would make or break his career.
On the other hand I think that Senator Edwards is ready for this race to be over so is the rest of America. Because this long drawn out campaign has made everyone tired and lose sight of the BIG PICTURE:

That's right no continual reign of republicans in the white house. Seriously there needs to be a change, when you have people that used to make six figures that are struggling to survive. That means that the people used to struggling are doing even worse. And Don't get me started on food and gas prices. I mean the average Joe like myself is just getting by, only by the skin of their teeth. There is no future when America is struggling to survive.
Yay! for the endorsements because at least Edwards can get others to see Obama's vision for everyone's future.

What it means being the oldest child

I do not really know what I need to be writing about therefore for the next few hours or days I will be trying out some topics that I'm interested in writing about.
First and foremost. I'm a mom of two. A son I had the pains of labor for and my niece I gained custody of when she was an infant herself. Now I've gone through all the trials and tribulations of caring for my niece full time and since shew as a wee little thing. But as truly being a first time parent it seems to me that I've grown accustom to the things that happen and should be happening for the child. So much so that it seems as if the thrill is gone. Many people would know what I'm referring to when I talk about the thrill of parenthood. All the First! But with me there is no surprise. I've been seasoned. My partner feels that my son is being robbed of the title of being the first. I can understand that to a certain degree. He's the first Grandboy on both sides of his family. But my question is: Is missing out on the first really all that important? My niece is three years older than my son. I've been through everything with her and nothing has changed with birth of my son other than the introduction of sibling jealousy.
For me, I was the oldest of 4. I hated it. I had to share everything and there was nothing I could call my own because I had to share. My partner on the other hand is the oldest of 2. He didn't have the same problems as me and I could list the grand differences of why we both had such difference in relating to my son and niece should be treated. The most striking part is that my parents are divorced and life growing up was very hard( this will be in a later post) but his life on the had has two parents celebrating over twenty years of marriage. I'm sure there were bumps along the way but they are a thriving companionship.
I honestly don't think that my son will be missing anything if he lacks the title of being the oldest child in this household. As far as I'm concerned I plan to make sure that things are equal between the two even though I know this will present me with many obstacles ahead. Right now I know that things can be shared and that there are certain things that must be different and we will tackle these differences as they present themselves. Just because my niece is the oldest does not mean that I will make her do more than her share of what is expected from her. My niece reserves the right being the first born girl and my son the right to being the first born boy. So they both are first and they both are the oldest. I will be learning a lot from this situation as I continue to perfect my parenting skills.

I guess we will be seeing more OBAMA

Obama wins NC. Maybe he will be the first African American to win the presidential election and the second democrat to win the backing of NC and other states that will be formally known as the RED states. This will be a step towards the greatest change that this country needs. The United States is in need of a great re-vamping and we have the perfect man to do it. The best man to lead by example for future leaders.

This Mama is for Obama

For this entire presidential race I have been on the fence about who to vote for. Simply because history has proven disastrous because people can't make up their mind, in essence those independent voters, and that ruins anything- meaning that Bush junior served two terms. Now at the start of the presidential nominees I guess that people were assuming that it would be a quick run and everything would be over and we'd all be voting again in November. BUT analyst were wrong as most always are.
Now the election is coming up in November and democrats are acting as if it is already November and it's just going to be Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama on the ticket but this is not the reality. There is McCain who's just breezing by and will ease on down to the White house in November if people don't get behind a person and just stick with that person. Right now it is Clinton and Obama battling for states and in doing so there will be the creation of a new color and the State will either be red, blue, or purple. This overdrawn out democratic battle will be the downfall of the party and then we would be in for another 4-8 years of declining society.
I urge people to get out and vote!!! Our livelihoods and sanity depend on it. Seriously there needs to be a dramatic change in the ways that things have been going and Obama represents that change. He can be the new face of our painful society and he is the only one that has the ability to heal the wounds created in our meager history. He is the representation that the people are ready for something different. Get out of the old mentality or you will be 'left behind.'
Obama is Mother Approved.
