The Anti-Discrimination Bill

Bush signs the Anti-Discrimination bill. Ok, I honestly think that this is a last ditch effort to save face with the minorities for the republican party in this upcoming presidential race.

This bill is for insurance companies so that they do not discriminate against people based on genetics, or better yet, any disease that can be contributed to bad genetics. The historical context comes into play is because this is considered one of the greatest pieces of civil rights legislation.

At first thought, discrimination on genetics has been the crux of this great nation that we call the United States of America. Does the one-drop rule ring a bell, or better yet the classification through blood quantity. The whiter the better. So now all of a sudden we can't have our corporations discriminating, so policies are enacted such as affirmative action. Affirmative action deserves a blog all on its own. Discrimination occurs 24/7. What this bill seems to do is cut down on the cost that people would have to pay for insurance based upon their being predisposition based upon genetics.

I don't know what side of the century that some people woke up on. But I could have sworn that without people of color fighting for rights, no one else would have any rights for this bill to even be under consideration.
