Presidential Debate 2 breakdown

What's the fastest solution to bail out retirees?

Obama- step 1- rescue package, and making sure that it works properly, cracking down on CEO's, middle class needs a rescue package.

McCain-stop sending money to countries that don't want help. Buy up old home loans,to stabilize the economy with making the home values go up.

Who would you appoint as your treasury secretary?

McCain- meg whittman

Obama- Warren Buffet, have to understand that it is not just about helping those at the top because it is not trickling down. have to be able to work on loss of jobs and income.

How is the bailout going to help the American people?

McCain-suspended campaigned to go back to DC. Says Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were encouraged by Obama and others. Getting contributions from those companies

Obama- the credit is frozen up, business can't get loans which mean they might have to lay people off. Said that there was needing some regulation and things never happened because of the deregulation in the beginning.

Will the economy get worse before it gets better?

Obama- need some leadership in Washington to set out more regulations

McCain- depends on what we do, need to stabilize housing market, get rid of special interest in Washington

How can you trust either candidate with our money when both parties got us into the problem?

Obama-the debt has increased since Bush has been in office, McCain voted for 4 out of 5 of those budgets. Net spending cut, he plans to cut more than he spends

McCain- he say that he has fought against the spending increases, look for the reforms that have and increase in jobs. energy independence includes nuclear energy and offshore drilling, says that Obama has 8million in spending.

Health care, energy, entitlement reform?

McCain- work on all three at once, says that we are not going to be able to provide the same benefits that the retirees receive today. Work on power plants to have jobs. have to do all

Obama- 1 energy, we have to deal with today 15billion over 10 year to become free of middle eastern oil 2 health care- bad for families and business, have to deal with education so that kids are competitive globally. he wants to eliminate programs don't work and make others work better for cheaper.

What sacrifices will you require American people to make to restore the American dream?

McCain- eliminate the programs that aren't working like the defense spending, spending freeze except for defense.

Obama- refers to 9/11 because the people came together. Have to have alternative energy, people at home would have to be involved

Obama- have to show that we have good habit instead of passing on debts to future generations. earmarks count for 18billion of budget, and McCain is only wanting to give cuts to big corporations. the budget freeze is an unfair spending

McCain- Obama wants to raise taxes and is the only president since hoover to do that. over 50% of small businesses would be taxed, 5000 tax credit for healthcare, he doesn't want to mess with current tax rates

A date to reform social security and Medicare?

Obama- entitlement has to be taken care of, wants to provide tax cut for 95% of the people, for those that make under 250,000 yr. wants to provide 50% tax credit to provide health insurance. states mcCain wants to give tax cuts to big business. If fix the tax situation then it will help reform social security.

McCain- says that social security isn't that hard to fix. Medicare will be harder to fix, have a commission. says Obama hasn't fought for tax increases.

What to do that makes sure congress moves fast for green jobs and climate change and environmental issues?

McCain- say he disagreed with Bush administration on climate change, nuclear power is safe and clean to use. need to develop more technologies for energy efficient cars.

Obama- make an investment in solar, wind, geothermal, he also favors nuclear power. says McCain voted 23 times for alternative energy. can't drill our way out of the current energy problem since we use 25% of the worlds oil. McCain has been there for 26 years and nothing has changed.

McCain- oil drilling is vital so that we can bridge the gap for imported oil

Should health care be treated at a commodity?

Obama- see that it has become a burden and we have to do something about it, like cutting cost by putting health records online. (mccain make a hand gesture and had signal) if don't have medical insurance and you would be able to buy into it and a low rate. the 5000 tax credit under Mccain will be taxed.

McCain- says that Obama will fine anyone that doesn't get health insurance of fine the small businesses that can't give employees health insurance because he mandates having health insurance the 5000

Is health care a privilege, right, or responsibility?

McCain- its a responsibility

Obama- it should be a right, if you got a health care that you like he wants to help lower premiums, small businesses won't be mandated but will be provided with 50% tax help to get it. government should crack down on the insurances that are getting over on people.

How will current economic stress affect with the ability to be a peacemaker?

McCain- states that the United States is the best country in the world for peace. There has to be a person to be able to make sure that we can help when needed, fight against terrorist

Obama- said that current judgments have been costly to the US. spending 10billion a month in Iraq when Iraq has a surplus. there is not country in the world that can maintain defense if we have a bad economy.

What is your doctrine for the use of military force in humanitarian crisis?

Obama- may not always have national security issues at state but there is a moral one. have to work with allies because we can't be everywhere all the time.

McCain- wants to bring the troops home with a victory. we have to beneficially affect the situation. don't want to send american blood into harms way. don't make any situations worse

Should US pursue al-Qaeda in Pakistan?

Obama- end the war in Iraq so that we can go in to Afghanistan,if Pakistan is not willing to find bin laden we should go in and get bin laden this is because they are threatening to kill more Americans. we have to speak and act responsibly.

McCain- when you announce an attack you turn the public opinion against you. work with Pakistan speak softly and carry a big stick.

Developments in Afghanistan

Obama- make Iraqi government take responsibility and withdraw troops for Afghanistan. have a government that is responsive to Afghan people.

McCain- have to work with Pakistani, have to have same strategy that was in Iraq, help the people to lead normal lives.

How can we apply pressure to Russia for humanitarian issues without having another cold war?

McCain- Putin has surrounded himself with the KGB, have to apply pressure in hopes that it will change their behavior, have to do this with the help of our allies

Obama- have to provide support to Russia"s surrounding countries, have to anticipate some of the problems before they happen because this helps make us more safe, agrees with McCain on some of the steps that need to be taken. energy is going to be key in dealing with Russia,

Russia is an evil empire?

Obama- they aren't the old soviet union but they have some dangerous tendencies

McCain- maybe

If Iran attacks Israel, would you commit us troops to support Israel?

McCain- wouldn't wait for the UN security council if Iran attack Israel, can't allow a 2nd holocaust to take place

Obama- can't allow Iran to get nuclear weapons, will do everything that is required, will keep military options open, work more effectively with other countries, should have direct talks with friends and enemies- if you don't change behavior there will be consequences.

What don't you know and how will you learn it?

Obama- he would learn better by what his wife points out. but without getting opportunity in this country he wouldn't be here. have to have a future for the children and bring back American dream

McCain- what will happen here and abroad. he believes in the future and the greatness of this country, he wants the people to give him another opportunity to make sure things happen.

In this debate I wasn't to sure about either candidate because their issues on foreign policy seemed almost the same. I would think that the key differences between them is that for one; Obama doesn't think that the same strategies used for Iraq will work in Afghanistan and McCain does, the other being that Obama is suggesting more talks with these nations whereas McCain is just like speak softly and carry a big stick. I don't think speaking softly or not speaking with the enemy will solve our problems. We have one objective for Afghanistan and that's to get bin Laden. We see that our current president forgot that objective and we lost our troops for somethings pointless. Sadam is dead so why are we still there? I think that this nation gets too bogged up in creating war for no reason other than just because. Now given the fact of the percentage that McCain will be president we should look forward to fighting wars again on US soil if either McCain or Palin piss off the Russians. Nothing against Russia but I don't want to tell my grandkids that I was living during the 2nd cold war. This is starting to make me wonder where in the world Germany will fit into this picture in its goal for World domination.

Given the fact that Obama strength was not on foreign policy he looked like a polish natural against McCain. McCain seemed to have lost his edge given that he was supposed to win this debate by a landslide. Hopefully fro him those old war wounds don't act up.

Vice President Debate breakdown

Can I call you Joe?-Palin

Biden- Not to let Wall street run wild. make sure CEO don't make money off the bailout, to watch out for the tax payers and homeowners.

Palin- refers to a kid's soccer game, fear in the parent's voices. McCain represents reform.
Shrink gap of polarization

Biden- has done a lot over his whole career. Comments on the economy that 9am the economy was good, at 11am the economy was in the crisis.

Palin- American workforce is the great thing, has a track record of reform, and 96% of his vote has been along the lines of his party. Thinks McCain is the reform.

Lenders or greed on wall street?

Palin- it was greed and the lenders tricking people into buying the homes that they couldn't afford. Need to demand oversight. tax relief for the people, says that 94 times Obama sided with tax increases.

Biden- republican response was deregulate, thinking that wall street could regulate itself. Obama was to deregulate health care. middle class needs relief. States that McCain voted 477 times for tax increases.

Raising taxes for people making over 250,000.

Biden- middle class is struggling and McCain is taking taxes from those making less than 250,00- but wants to add billions to tax cuts for the wealthy. Redistribution of wealth. The 5000 health care tax credit will be taken out of the taxes that the people pay for health care through their jobs, which will cause thousands to be dropped from the insurance -this is the bridge to nowhere

Palin- government is not always the solution but the problem. The government is to get out of the private sector. McCain wants to let people can purchase their own health care. 5000 health care tax credit is his solution.

Budgets and Energy

Biden- eliminate wasteful spending- like tax dodging/ McCain is adding billions for tax break for the oil companies. McCain does not support windfall profits tax but Palin supports the tax.

Palin- Energy plan that Obama voted for, but she broke up that plan in Alaska because it was not. She hasn't made any promises to do anything but stand up for the American people

Bankruptcy

Palin- there is the corruption and greed on wall street. goes back to energy- need to become energy independence is the key to getting the economy.

Biden- mortgage crisis needs to be dealt with

Climate change.

Palin- Alaska see the climate change more than other states. Clean up the planet. conserving fuel. drill baby drill. states that it is clean and safe to drill. capping carbon emissions .

Biden- climate problem is man-made but if you don't understand the cause of the problem then you won't have a solution. McCain voted 20 times against alternative energy sources and their only solution is oil. need to uses the clean coal has supported clean coal burning for 25 yrs.

Granting same sex benefits.

Biden- they support same sex benefits, don't support same sex marriage but civil rights should be the same.

Palin-no if it doesn't support the traditional man and woman. Should just be tolerant. she states she has a diverse family but does not support marriage of one man and one woman

Iraq and having a clear exit plan.

Palin- need a plan don't need to lose there so that we don't loose in Afghanistan. states that Obama did not support troops. States that the plan is a white flag of surrender. States that Biden supported McCain until he became the VP pick

Biden-Obama has clear plan- says that there needs to be time line for troop support both McCain and Obama did not support the end for troops. McCain voted to cut off funding for troops because there was a time line to end the war.

Nuclear Iran or unstable Pakistan?

Biden- Pakistan already has and used nukes but Iran does not need to get those nukes. McCain is only focused on Iraq

Palin- cannot be allowed to get nukes

secretary of state advocate engagement with enemies..

Palin- Those that hate America should not be met with we need to meet with the

Biden- allies have said that we need to sit down and talk with the enemies Bush only sate down to do this after 5 years of being in office, McCain will not sit down to talk with Spain who is one of our allies

2state solutions

Palin- no 2nd holocaust or support Israel. should stop playing the blame game on the bush administration. Change is coming

Biden- the policy has been a failure under bush administration. The policy will be changed must occur to support Israel. How different is McCain will be different from Bush because there isn't any change.

Should there be a trigger for the use of nuclear weapons?

Palin- be all and end all of the people and the planet there should be no nuclear proliferation, then jumps to Afghanistan, surge principles that have worked in Iraq should be used in Afghanistan.

Biden- surges will not work in Afghanistan. we spend more money 3 weeks in Iraq than we have in 7 yrs of rebuilding in Afghanistan. Need to do something about keeping nuclear weapons out of the hands of the enemies.

Interventions is Bosnia, Iraq, Dar fur?

Biden- interventions saved lives and it worked in Bosnia, Iraq stated that it would be a mistake to intervene. we need to stop the genocide in Dar fur and get the world to act, support of the no fly zone. says that he did not support McCain military strategy

Palin- voted for the war but now you are against it. Doesn't understand how Biden support McCain's military strategy and not Obama's. Alaska permanent fund savings fund for Alaska but that legislation hasn't passed yet. Agrees with needing to help Darfur. says that McCain knows how to win a war.

Biden- A Biden administration vs Obama administration- Biden states that he will carry out Obama's policies. that the people in american has gotten the short end of the stick and there needs to

Palin- McCain vs McCain administration- agree to disagree, has never had to check her opinions at the door. Continue McCains work bring the government back to the people. Say it ain't So JOE. Need flexibility in NCLB.

What the vice president mean?

Palin- we know what the vp does, surprised that the constitution gives the vp that much power. do what is best for the people in support the presidents agenda

Biden- McCain is not supporting education programs, legislative initiatives, will be giving Obama advice. Cheny has been the most vp of the united states, vp is supposed to give the best advice, to think that vp is not supposed to be over the legislative branch and Cheny has made that

Discipline- What is your Achilles heel?

Palin- mayor, business owner, oil regulator are her experience, we have not got to allow, change is coming in McCain

Biden- thinking that he has a discipline problem but he doesn't. Talks about the maverick, McCain has not been a maverick on the things that are most important.

Policy issues to change a long view and the policy needed to change.

Biden- battled against a judge for civil rights and other liberties.

Palin- vetoed legislation in Alaska

Bringing the sides together.

Biden- not questioning other peoples motives. there is a need for fundamental change.

Palin- working together for the greater good- support the ticket that creates jobs. gonna fight for America and fight for freedom and thinks that her children will one day talk about a day when the people were free under McCain

I don't know a lot about Biden but the more I learn about Palin the more it makes me want to for more against her. The comment that stuck out most to me was that she said hat she's only been at the VP nomination for a little over 5 weeks. 5 WEEKS!!! I need people to wake up on this. voting for McCain is like putting Palin in office. We don't know his health status, people can lie all the time. Just think, McCain dies in office and GUESS WHAT, Palin is the new president and she has NO experience with this. Yes I can't knock the woman for what she may have done in Alaska. But Alaska is less populated than one block of New York so yea you can probably run a whole lot more when you don't have that MANY people to govern in the first place. I mean just think the next dictator to slap us back to the ice ages is Palin. She doesn't even know key issues in the US history. I'm starting to even wonder if she knows that the constitution exist and that they also created a Bill of Rights for a reason.

So the entire time I'm watching this debate I can't help but notice that Palin could not answer any questions unless she could some how relate them to what she has done in Alaska. She could not answer any question without talking about energy. It's not all about energy. There are some other things to help keep the UNITED STATES going into the 21st century. I think someone really needs to get her some more cheat sheets to look at other than just things about Alaska and Oil. I think cliff notes creates one for the Constitution.

Biden has the experience and he's even run for president before. I mean people I understand that Barack Obama has been short lived for his experience in the US Senate but geez, at least he has Biden to back him up, there is a balance there. McCain has nothing. I guess that Maverick was really planning on flying solo on this one but God help us if McCain starts slipping and he's the one the people will have chosen to deliver us in a hand-basket.

After tonight I hope all the people realize what a GREAT MISTAKE this will be if McCain steals this election.

Presidential Debate breakdown

Where do you stand on the 700 billion bailout?

Obama- states that we have to move swiftly and smartly to work out what is going on and make sure that the people get back the money that they are helping to bail out wall street with. What's good for wall street and what's good for main street. The people have been struggling long before this crisis but now there is a need for helping the people first on wall street while forgetting about.

McCain- answers with hearts going out to ted kennedy, and what does eliminating dependence on foreign oil have to do with the wall street bailout. He hopes that he would vote for the plan to bailout wall street. I see a stumble because even after all of this he hopes that he can vote on a 700 billion dollar plan. Failure and corruption are rewarded but there should be accountable drilling and nuclear power plants(43 new plants). Healthy economy without raising any taxes will help get us out this crisis.

What are the lessons of the Iraq war?

McCain- can't have a failed strategy that will cause you to lose a conflict. we have succeeded. there is a difference between a tactic and a strategy and says that obama does not understand that.

Obama- opposed the war when it was politically risky to be in the war and there was an unfinished job in Afghanistan. The insurgents are stronger now than ever, and we are spending billions a month on this failed war. says mcain cut funding for troops on a time table whereas he was open for sending funding. should end the war responsibly and in phases.

Should more US troops be sent to Afghanistan?

Obama- need more troops there and need to deal with Pakistan's. need to take out terrorist leaders if Pakistan isn't willing to.

McCain- not prepared to cut aid to Pakistan but not strikes and a need to work with them. same strategy in Iraq is going to be needed in Pakistan. He needs new strategy that will work in Afghanistan.

McCain- if Iran gets nuclear weapons then there will be a threat to the region. Can't allow a second holocaust. doesn't agree with those leaders without precondition. doesn't need to legitimize the face of terror.

Obama- need some sanctions on Iran, have to make sure they don't get nuclear weapons. we have to stop talking to threating countries without punishment because it is not working by just talking alone. there is a difference preconditions and preparations, need those preparations in order to get things done. says that mccain doesn't even want to talk to our allies, so how will we get things done.

How do you see the US relationship with Russia?

Obama- 6 point cease fire, proliferation of loose nuclear weapons. have to deal with Russia in response to us national security.

McCain-looked into Putins eye's and saw the letters kgb, thinks that Obama shows naiveté on dealing with Russia because of their dealings with Georgia. have to make sure that Ukraine knows that we are their allies.

What is the likelihood of another 9/11 attack?

McCain- thinks that we are safer now than the first day after 9/11. need better human intelligence, no prisoner torture, can work more closely with allies. do a better job along our borders. if we fail in Iraq then it will make those forces stronger. Has the ability to make the right judgments to make sure that the US is safe.

Obama- we have done some, airport has increase but other transport needs help, nuclear security, need missile defense, and cooperation with allies, get to the root of the problem in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Have to get US back on the positive with the rest of the world. we have weakened the projection of ourselves to the rest of the world. have to have a broader strategic vision.

After watching this debate, I think I would need to see another within the next 30 days is that going to happen probably not, but as of right now all it takes is Palin to mess up the VP debate and it's all she wrote. Honestly even with McCain pointing out Obama in some political choices made, but the thing about it is after seeing the debate, McCain himself changed his mind or can I say wording. It seems as if he went one way for one question and changed his mind with the different question. With McCain I felt like that if he gets into office, some of those old POW wounds are going to start acting up and we won't be in a better place, domestically or internationally. Given the fact that this debate was supposed to be a land slide victory for McCain, I didn't not see that. I think that both did well to get their points across but there was no clear evidence to make me change my mind on who I'm voting for or why I should vote for McCain over Obama.

Burn Baby Burn

I never really understood the whole issue of the bra burning during the feminist movement, just as I never really understood the Boston Tea Party as being the name for a movement for the people throwing tea off the side of a boat.

Well after growing up during a time in which the use of bra flip flop, I just feel like talking about this for a second. Now first off, I don't remember who started the whole bra burning business but I have come to the conclusion that because of that event the price of bras will remain higher than that of underwear. But maybe that's just me.

Being that probably most of our ancestors didn't wear bra's and these historic paintings show these perky breast without support, I'm wondering where in the world did my genes go?

Back to the price of bras, price increases because of size. I don't even know why they waste the cloth for making A-cups. I mean an a-cup breast is not even enough to get the effects of gravity. b-cup are barely just making as well. So say you are one of the a to b cup women out there, be happy that you don't have the increased price of a bra, at least you get a pair of matching panties to go along with that for the same price one bra would cost me.

So I gather that the women burning these bras didn't exactly need them because I know that as much as I paid for a bra, it would NOT have gotten burned for any movement, unless it was a movement towards lower prices.

Sad thing for me is there are some pretty busty women out there, I've seen them and so have marketers. I mean why in the world would people get boob jobs if it were just for the bra. Even with all the increases in size, you can never seen to find a matching set. I mean I can get 20 pair of underwear for the price of one bra.

So thanks to all my foremothers for making all those sacrifices that have come back to bite me in the Boob.

Unfair at RNC

I happened to be watching the Republican National Convention and within the first five minutes of McCain's 45 minute speech there is this uproar. The first encounter occurs with a man holding a sign that reads "McCain is not for Vets" and it seems as if someone is chasing this man. He has the right to freedom of speech and if he wanted to protect the rally then so be it. But the rest of the crowd starts to chant "USA" over and over as if they were suggesting that this man and any others opposed to McCain are not apart of the USA.

The crowd eventually leaves the man alone and the camera pans back to him still holding that sign. Then two minutes later this woman, holding up a cloth sign, has the sign forcefully ripped from her hands from a man that seems to be from the audience. That man then proceeds to throw the cloth sign on the floor and stomp on it. The woman looks as if she protesting and then proceeds to walk toward what looks like a stage. She is then attacked by two other audience members and they proceed to force her out of the arena, but not after ripping her clothes off in the fight, her shirt reads "PRO-CHOICE."

Now I guess after the second incident the camera people were warned not to show anymore of the non-McCain supporters in the audience but there was a report of a third incident that didn't make the news.

After watching this I was reminded of world's most shocking videos in which the Parliament in China breaks out into a argument that turns in to a brawl. This could have been one of those moments.

God forbid if McCain becomes president because after this show of disrespect of peoples rights because as president he doesn't have to care about the poor, minorities, and military. Who would we depend on in the times of need? We have already seen Bush fail at this and with McCain hanging on those coat-tails something is bound to be repeated.

Like the saying if a groundhog sees its shadow there will be four more weeks of winter, as with McCain there will be four more years of Bush!

McCain/Palin Blunder

I'm sitting her watching McCain introduce Sarah Palin as his VP and it seems to have fallen short for me.

The posters in the audience all say COUNTRY FIRST. I get it, but as McCain speaks to the people he says "me first and country second." It is painfully obvious that he is already contradicting himself and he's not even in office yet.

So right now I'm thinking that because the democrats did not choose Hilary Clinton as VP that the repuliCain's feel the need to pounce on that opportunity. But they pick someone as inexperienced as they claim Barack Obama to be.

The slogan COUNTRY FIRST does not mesh well with putting the people first. The only reason that she has been picked as VP so that they can open up all that drilling opportunity in Alaska, who better than their own governor to bus them under the bus.

The poor people that believe McCain seem to be lost souls if they think that this man gives a flip about doing anything for the people of this country. He has even stated things such as having the need to keep people in armed service rather than see them get an education.

This pick for VP seems to be a joke. She doesn't know what she can do outside of what she's done in the PTA and the less than 2 years at governor. They are looking to secure the women's vote that Clinton was supposed to. The working class women, well I don't know about working class but I do know about the non-working class. This past year of not working has shown me that and I do not need someone telling me that I need a job when I know that I need job, but rather I need someone that can create opportunity for me to get a job.

What can McCain and Palin do for me? Nothing it seems and that is because I'd have to own a larger share in some oil company to see any type of positive effect.

This Momma is still for Obama and For Change. No more beating around the Bush!!

Tuskegee Experiement Anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the Tuskegee Experiment. For all of those that don't know anything about this I will drop a little history on you.

The US government started this study in 1932 to see the effects of syphilis on the Black male. What they wanted to find out was if syphilis affected black males the same as it did the white population.

You can't say that black people haven't done anything. Because of this experiment we now have in place restrictions from using humans as animals in laboratory test. Yes without the cruelty against blacks there would be no change.

Just think we owe these men our lives for all the hell they went through just because white people we catching some disease that black man had never heard of. It makes you think of HIV and AIDS how only one place "AFRICA" seems to be over run with it and we are the onlookers of this travesty.

I sometimes think that the powers that run the world are trying to destroy us from the root. Africa has become that new testing ground for all these diseases. But it's only okay to test people that fall under the label of third world. The scare only happens when a disease happens to affect more white people, and that's when they need to find out how to fix it.

I can take it even a step further and add that the only way white people took over the Americas was mainly due to smallpox. Yes, white people were some nasty people that they sought to use what ailments they had against the American Indians and other indigenous populations. Where was the government then?, making money off them the same way they were making money of the men of the Tuskegee Experiment, the same way the African continent is being raped of its riches.

JUST SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU THINK!

Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is Dead...

So it has been brought to my attention in the past week of Sen. Jesse Helms died on July 4th. I was not a big fan of this man, yet I don't know of any minority that was.

So ding dong Jesse Helms has passed on to get his judgment for his afterlife. I mean the man caused hell on earth and he was not going to change his backwards ways of thinking for anyone.

The funny thing about all of this is that the papers state that he died of natural causes. They don't want to admit that the man died of some horrible disease brought upon him by Karma.

The first sign that is a dead give away that a person caused hell on earth and has hell to pay, declining health Come on people the man fought against basic civil rights and they want to label him as a hero. This is NOT funny but SERIOUS.

The sad part of that happens to be the reactions of the people over his death. It is almost like the government was completely oblivious to all the things that this man did but yet there were only two comments posted in opposition to Jesse Helms. One from Reverend Jesse Jackson, At the height of his power, he fought for the values of the old confederacy. He resisted the new South. He resisted the opportunity to fight for a more perfect union." and the other from Joe Solomnese of the human rights campaign, "Jesse Helms' legacy is one of hatred, homophobia and racism. Although not its intent, that legacy has made our community stronger and more able to forcefully respond to bigotry and prejudice. As a community, we are more committed than ever to securing full equality for all GLBT people."

Also according to some papers, As he aged, Helms was slowed by a variety of illnesses, including a bone disorder, prostate cancer and heart problems, and he made his way through the Capitol on a motorized scooter as his career neared an end. In April 2006, his family announced he had been moved into a convalescent center after being diagnosed with vascular dementia, in which repeated minor strokes damage the brain.

The man said no to everything! "No to civil rights. No to abortion. No to communism. No to the United Nations. No to gay rights. No to arts funding with nakedness. No to school busing. No to the U.S. giving up the Panama Canal. No to a nuclear arms reduction treaty called Salt II.

"You needed that job ... but they had to give it to a minority."--Helms

So when Helms is standing at those pearly gates I hope the Lord says to him NO, We needed that spot in heaven so we gave it so a minority and those who repented.

When the Levees Broke

Ever hear of the saying "You will reap what you sow"? Well I think that this is a proper phrase for what is going on now. One levee has been broken in Illinois and people are scrambling to make sure that it does not turn into another New Orleans, Louisiana fiasco.

We all remember that the levees failed because of a sudden outpour of rain from hurricane Katrina. Severe flooding was caused because the ancient and forgotten levees broke under the pressure of thousands of tons of water.

We also remember that these levees have probably been scheduled to repaired but we've been at war so long that we can't take care of our infrastructure, although we are all paying taxes to make sure that these things are taken care of.

Ok, so the Mississippi River, the longest river in the US has some of those same ancient and forgotten about levees. Well they are currently being put to the test to see if they can outstand the ever-changing rages of mother nature. Right now it is looking like mother nature is about have a flawless victory.

I'm going to take a huge leap and suggest that the public and the government do not want anymore criticisms if levees fail horribly along the Mississippi River. There was plenty of consipracy theories circling after Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans. So now there are a lot of preventetive measures being taken, mostly sandbags, but if they fail then there will be more flooding.

My question is, How many times do it take for our federal and state taxes to be put to good use. I mean with briges and levees failing it will be a disaster. God forbid if we were to ever fight a war on US soil. I mean people know that these things need to be repaired. How many times a year do we see headlines of the most unsafe bridges to travel on. Way too many especially when they start collasping with people on them.

In either case lives are stake. Whose lives are worth more ours or the soldiers? I think the manpower of the armies are better suited for the protection of the homefront. Misguided money could be put to MUCH BETTER use than war.

Welfare System

I under the assumption that a certain income level, or rather a certain non-income level pushes people to get placed into the government welfare system. Well we all know that income is not the only factor that makes one eligible.

Is the welfare system designed to help those in need or help those filled with greed?
I have come to the conclusion that this system was made for a certain group of people and not for others. I will use myself as an example.

I have custody of my niece. It has been this way for going on over 4 years now. I have a college education. With the degree to prove it. Well during the time that my niece had first come to live with me, she was an infant, I had no childcare. I was not even offered any help. She was just placed with me and I was supposed to survive. Now technically if things were supposed to have been done correctly, I would have gotten help through foster care supplements until I was able to find daycare. Well that did not happen.

So to make a long story short, I had no help for almost six months. And the state left an infant in my care, while I was a full time student. Yes I managed and graduated on time, but I think some help would have been better than none in this given situation. At times I felt like I was being set up to fail because I wasn't getting pointed into any directions for help.

Now I graduated from school and my niece has been in daycare for a little over a year, with a childcare subsidy. But because I graduated from school was about to enter into a graduate program I was told that I could not receive childcare subsidy for working on anything above a bachelor's degree. I mean what kind of bull is this.

Now after I get that little statement I think that the system is set up to help those that can not complete high school, or either the case workers are that jealous because there are some people out there trying to go somewhere and they can't leave their dead end job. I mean if I'm wrong, I'd like to be made aware of it. To tell me that I can't get daycare because I furthering my education sounds fishy.

Let's ad another twist to this. After finding a graduate school to attend and opting to stay out of work for a year, I go to apply for the childcare subsidy once more. This time I am told that if I don't attend a school in the county or work in the county in which I am applying, then I don't qualify. WHAT IN THE WORLD??!?!

So I'm looking for a job and attending graduate school and I still can't catch a break. This is how the systems is broken down; I need childcare to secure work or go to school but I can't get childcare if I don't work or attend school. If this doesn't sound like a rope-a-dope scheme then I don't know what it is.

Child support is one of those lose-lose situations. Many people don't file for child support and if they don't they won't get any help from the absent parent without it and on the other hand there is no guarantee that the person needing the support will get it even if an order is filed. Or the absent parent is automatically labeled a deadbeat parent. I mean I know of some situations in which the child would be better off with the absent parent rather than the one with sole-custody.

I will use a relevant example. Say you have a child and the absent parent sends payments directly to you, but say you are receiving other help from the state, well the state can file for child support against that absent parent without your permission. In this case the state gets paid for the child support cases that are filed. If you ever look at a child support order, the state get an amount every month that a check or wages are gotten from the absent parent.

In my case I'm supposed to be receiving child support, but this is why I am not, the little work first check that I am receiving each month, needs to be paid back. Therefore any child support that I am supposed to get, I will not ever see it because of back pay that is owed. And one month I had my hope up because I got a statement that stated I was to get this set amount outside of what the state had taken, but guess what I didn't see it. I think that either they were playing with my emotions and that was a typo, lost the check, or more likely took the check.

Now in my case I'm supposed to get child support from both parents because both parents are absent and neither are making an effort to take care of their child. But will there ever come a time in which both parents are working in which they can send support my way? It is a shame but I don't think that it will ever happen. Too bad that most people figure that men are the only one's needing to pay child support. But since I am a semi-firm believer in equality I think absent mothers should get the same treatment. But this is because I'm basing this of the last 4 grueling but enlightening years of my life.

F.E.M.A.

It does not help the fact that the people of the Hurricane Katrina were hit by the hurricane; suffered severe flooding, heat, hunger, and poor living conditions; select victims were given opportunities to start over while thousands were crowded into trailers and left to "fend" for themselves. But what tops all of this is the fact that $85 million dollars worth of supplies and food that were designated for the Katrina victims were not given to the people that needed it.

$85 million dollars of supplies that F.E.M.A. was supposed to give the other people hit by Katrina in 2005. It is now 2008. THREE YEARS, THREE and yet no one is getting the help that they so desperately needed. All these supplies and all F.E.M.A does is give it away. What in the world is going on.

Why aren't the Katrina Victims getting these items? It has been three years and now the government is telling the people that are living in the government trailers that they need to leave and find somewhere else to live because the government no longer wants to care for its own people. The conditions have been horrible and they haven't changed. The government has moved out and tried to bury its "untouchables." The Super Dome has long been repaired and people have moved back to rebuild. But the people in this government, sub-standard trailer, have been removed from the public eye. At first glance into these area where the government thought that it was helping, it looks like a third world country.

F.E.M.A spent more than $1 million a year to store these supplies that the people needed. So for 2 years the supplies sat taking up space, not being used for what it was set up for.

Why does F.E.M.A. exist? If this government program does not do the job that it has been set-up to do then why does it exist. It's for people to become rich off of the struggles and pains of others. Some high F.E.M.A director is probably pulling in a six figure income while the ones that should be served get what they need. It is like the rich stealing from the worse than poor.

Maybe some people have been helped by F.E.M.A.'s actions of simply giving away these supplies. I would think that they have been distributed fairly. But this is not true because fair would have been to give to the people that this was set up for: KATRINA VICTIMS.

The government has done things much worse, like dumping these same people and leaving them for dead, and yes we've all seen the pictures and video all over television but nevertheless the government will continue to create worthless causes to fight. We are still fighting in a pointless war aren't we?

The Hogans

So I'm listening to the news and there seems to be this great debate about Nick Hogan and his first few weeks in prison. For all that don't know Nick Hogan, son of Hulk Hogan, is serving times, 8 months, for drunk driving and the severe injuries to his friend that was in the car.

Nick Hogan is known for racing cars, his dad even brought him a pretty fast car right after learning to drive. So in this instance Nick and his buddies have all gotten drunk, and Nick is the driver. They have a terrible accident and his best friend has now been deemed a vegetable.

Nick Hogan's punishment: well 8 months in prison, 5 years parole, and here's the debate: depending on the state laws, Nick Hogan may or may not have a suspended license during his parole. So there is a possibility of him breaking parole given that he might have the possibility of having a parole violation.

Now as mentioned before, Nick Hogan is currently serving his 8 month sentence in juvenile detention. Now some phone conversations between him and his parents have been leaked. Those conversations reveal that Nick Hogan nor his parents are remorseful for the pain that they have caused for the family of his friend.

As some of the conversations reveal, Nick Hogan is looking to have his own reality tv show starting the day of his release, and guess who is going to make this happen, Daddy Hogan. I guess celebrities these days are trying to milk every penny that they can while they can. In my opinion being in jail, drunk driving, and almost killing your friend, is nothing to be proud about.

Another point stressed within those conversations that Nick Hogan had with his mom, stressed the fact that after only being in juvenile detention for only a few days, Nick Hogan tells his mom that he's going crazy. Being in solitary confinement for a few days is driving the poor boy crazy only because he has to THINK for the first time in his life. WOW. So after Hogans began to start smoozing the media Nick is moved to a new cell with two roomates. So now he's much happier being able to talk to more troubled youth his age, when he actually needs to be seeking help for drunk driving.

Do I feel sorry for Nick Hogan? No, not really. The time he's gotten does not fit the crime he's committed. Any other non-celebrity, non-white person would have received 3-5 times more time for the same crime committed.

Democratic Nomination

As I am watching the Democratic Nomination race on television, I can't helped to be annoyed by Hilary Clinton's tactics at the moment. It is obvious that Clinton was not willing to step out of the race after it was apparent that she would not win the party's nomination. Now even with Obama with only seven delegates to go, and 4 hours, 54minutes, and 30seconds and counting Clinton is still not wanting to end the race.

When will be the proper time for her to concede and make sure that a republican will not enter into the office in November. All that she has done so far is to divide the party along the lines of who is a better candidate for running for office. It is apparent that the people and the super-delegates have chosen the best candidate.

Now, even with Obama making history on so many levels within the United States, there is still so much division, so much so that if Clinton drops out, that will make all the Clinton supporters will not support Obama. Therefore by not voting or not showing up to vote for Obama in November, the republicans by default, will win.

Now there has been a hint that Clinton wants to be Obama's running mate. Earlier on in the race, Clinton said that she was not running for the office of vice president. Now at the end of the race, she feels that she has earned a spot as Obama's running mate. What in the world. You don't hear any of the republican candidates running suggest that they earned the vice president spot with McCain.

So even with Obama winning the party's nomination, there will not be much celebration because Clinton plans to take some of that spotlight in her concession as well as her bid for vice president. Seems like this leads Obama between a rock and a hard place; don't choose Clinton and risk losing in November because of a party division, race division, sex division, and any other type of divisions thought possible; or choose Clinton and have his role in the white house viewed upon as a puppet hanging on the strings of the Clinton's. I'm sure this will be a hard decision and I'm sure that all possibilities have been carefully thought out.

History made and overshadowed if there happens to be an Obama/Clinton ticket but die-hard Clinton supporters think that it was only women that helped people of color obtain the rights that they have today. That's hard to swallow when White's looked to people of color for support, labor, etc.

In all honesty I think that people need to get off their high horses and let history take its place, and let change occur, we will all be better off than we have been in the last eight years. We can only go uphill from here.

A Gamer becomes Mayor.

A 19 year old becomes mayor of his town in Oklahoma. He's just a year past high school graduation. News say he campaigned about the issue important to his community but what can a 19 yr old do. Remember he's technically still a teenager. He can't even drink, the legal age is 21. So even if he wanted to go hang out at a bar with coworkers he couldn't. Let's think of all the things a 19 year old can do: go to school, enlist, go to war, smoke, drive, and oh yes they can now become mayors.

In all honesty I think that the old people fell asleep on the day that the vote needed to be cast and the new young voters took advantage. His only competition was a 70 year old man. A 19 year old versus a 70 year old. What are the odds? Just think if there wasn't an age requirement required for a person to be president. There would be a 19year old in office as president and our wars would be fought through Playstation and Xbox360.

Yes the 19 year old mayor, is a gamer. So and strategies for foreign policy will be created through video game companies, war would be fought through technological advances in the video gaming industry, and if anything went wrong you could always restart the game.

The Anti-Discrimination Bill

Bush signs the Anti-Discrimination bill. Ok, I honestly think that this is a last ditch effort to save face with the minorities for the republican party in this upcoming presidential race.

This bill is for insurance companies so that they do not discriminate against people based on genetics, or better yet, any disease that can be contributed to bad genetics. The historical context comes into play is because this is considered one of the greatest pieces of civil rights legislation.

At first thought, discrimination on genetics has been the crux of this great nation that we call the United States of America. Does the one-drop rule ring a bell, or better yet the classification through blood quantity. The whiter the better. So now all of a sudden we can't have our corporations discriminating, so policies are enacted such as affirmative action. Affirmative action deserves a blog all on its own. Discrimination occurs 24/7. What this bill seems to do is cut down on the cost that people would have to pay for insurance based upon their being predisposition based upon genetics.

I don't know what side of the century that some people woke up on. But I could have sworn that without people of color fighting for rights, no one else would have any rights for this bill to even be under consideration.

Guitar Hero

So I'm new to the whole guitar hero thing. As a matter of fact Guitar Hero 3 was the second game that I purchased on my Nintendo Wii. I had seen the game before but never really played it until I bought it. I liked playing the game so much so, that I brought Guitar Heros 1 and 2 for the Playstation 2. It is a great game although the Nintendo Wii's version lacks in downloadable songs and other content. Now I have to say that other than that, the game is great. It is easy to pick up and learn how to play. The only downside is the tutorial is super long and there is no options for fastfowarding through parts. Despite downloadable content the game has great online play capabilities everything can be played online except for co-op career. Other than that it is great that Activision decided to release this game on Nintendo.
Now after some time, Guitar Hero is continuing it series and is releasing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The game appears to be awesome. It will be something to buy because like Guitar Hero 3 there will be bundle, in which comes with a custom guitar as well as the game. I'm not expecting this game to have any new features but rather buy it for all the playable songs by the artist and the cool new guitar.

I am waiting for the Guitar Hero: World Tour to hit the shelves so that I won't have to waste money on Rock Band. I can simply just keep all my Guitar games to one happy medium. Now if the hype for Guitar Hero: World Tour is so great that, might encourage me to upgrade my game system.

But this is all in a days play for a video gamer.
Trust me, being a mom, Guitar Hero has become a life-saver and a stress reliever.

The Future for China's Children

So China has become severely devastated by earthquakes in the past weeks. My heart goes out to everyone being affected. There is one thing that I found interesting about the whole thing, the lift on the banned for having ILLEGAL children. So there was a law implement in the 1970's for a one child limit in China due to overpopulation. Within this are a few loop holes. A family can have another child if the first child was a girl. Right there is one problem. Men are seen as the only possible heirs that families have so right now there are probably thousands of orphan girls. The reason for this being that families are charged per child after the first child. The first child is allotted many freedoms that the country allows, like education, while any additional children have to be paid for. On top of having to supply for each child that a family can have, they have to pay taxes on each child after the first one. Well to me this is bring to mind an issue of slavery, or better yet the 3/5ths rule. So China makes it very expensive and difficult for families with multiple children.

So let's revisit the case in which a family is allowed to have a second child, if their first born happens to be a girl. Let's say that they are lucky enough to have a boy, then the boy will get all the rights, that the oldest child once received and the family will have to pay for having the girl in the household. This necessity for having a male child has lead to an increase in abortions, abandoned girl children and an increase in the male population.

Now back the the earthquakes. With death tolls reaching into the hundreds of thousands, China is thinking to bend a few of the one child per family rules. For one the death of parents is causing many children to become orphans overnight, and families are being affected also with the loss of children. Therefore the families that only had the one child, are now childless. Now for the families that had more than one child and the oldest was a boy and happened to die, families can apply for one of their other illegal children to take their place, so as not to continue paying taxes, or if any of the other children died in the multi-person family, then the family can apply to not have to continue to pay taxes on their dead children.
So at this point no one can tell what lies in store for the future of this law. Maybe the abandoned children will get a family, or maybe this will just spark another baby boom.

The Revamped Gladiator

So I'm just sitting here watching the new gladiator, or rather the revamped gladiator. It is quite a revisit to the 70's and 80's without the hair. The 70's:

And the upgraded version: There hasn't been many changes in the bodies of the gladiators other than facial expressions. The gladiators of the 70's look friendlier given that the era was different and they didn't have all the challenges and stresses that the new and improved gladiators have to face, whatever that may be.
Other than that there have been some upgrades to the stage and a few of the games have some new twist. The main thing now is the requirement of all the participants to be able to swim because of the big pool that you can either fall into or get knocked into. More often than not, its because a person is being knocked into it.

The gladiators are roughly the same as they had always been, except a few key characters that I thought I'd mention. Well the hosts are Laila Ali, and Hulk Hogan. This seems to be funny because even with the famous host, the rest of the gladiators look like a bunch of WWE rejects for the men, and the women look like a bunch of playboy bunnies on steroids.

Now on to the two funny looking gladiators. Helga is a interesting woman on the show. She is a huge gladiator and she towers over the rest of the woman. Just like the rest of the women she has beauty but Helga sounds like a man when she speaks. WHOA.
And there is the gladiator Titan. Titan is good looking at first glance. That's only at first glance. Man he's had so many surgeries that at second glance you would this it was David Hasslehof. And you can tell because the skin around his face doesn't move with any type of emotion. It's creepy.
Other than that competition on the show is still as fierce, no matter how many decades that it's been.

Cheating

There are different types of cheating. But the one that I want to talk about today is cheating within relationships. I don't want to go into the psychological reasons for why people cheat, I only want to get some things off my mind. Can a cheater change his/her ways? Can a person truly trust a partner again after he or she has been cheated on? Should that person deserve to earn your trust back. What if kids are involved what do you do then? Is the relationship even worth salvaging? If you have answered no to any of the following questions then you need to leave that person alone. I don't even care how many years you have, or how much potential you see coming out of there, its not even worth it. I have not had my share of relationships only 4 seemed to make a lasting standpoint in my life. 1 being the first guy I ever dated while in high school, the relationship lasted for only two years and ended because I greatly desired to go to college. The 2nd relationship happened 3 years after the first but during my first year of college. That was on and off for about 2 years as well. There were our share of ups and downs and now the relationship has its best fit as a friendship. Now the 3rd relationship only makes a case, simply because it was the only relationship in which the guy threatened to kill me if we broke up, so we broke up and I had the police escort me home for my safety.

Now on to the 4th guy in which I have a child by. Which seems to be the worse case scenario known to man. Well he's been accused once of sleeping with other women. One being an ex, which he slept with while I was 6 months pregnant. Ok so I find this out a year later and he's more upset that I found out about it through his ex girl rather than admit he had done this act, after being asked about it 3 TIMES. Ok, now this is where trust comes into play. Getting lied to this whole time, and a person you think loves you puts your health in danger as well as a unborn child all because you THINK that they are being faithful to you, I can understand how some people act on the Maury show. So how long does it take to regain trust? and is this process even worth it? Honestly I don't think that it is even possible to fully trust someone again after trust has been violated and the violation has been proven to be true. But let's just say you stick it out and hope that things get better.

So after a period of time the violated person forgives and is able to reopen the heart to be able to trust again, just for a little, another trial run before the end-all of solutions. In my particular case I tried but I still kept my alerts up. So no this same person stands accused of sleeping around with coworkers. He swears up and down that its not true, even offers to call the girl he's accused of sleeping with as proof. But who's to know that they just lie for each other? But you find hard proof that they are sleeping with another person, this time they make trophies out of it and even brag about conquests and hopes of future encounters. Now where does that leave YOU? Let's see, heartbroken, victimized, hurt, angry, ashamed, and the list can go on forever. Cheaters are always cheaters. They will never change because of the thrill of something new or different, the thrill of lying, the thrill of not being caught, or some other stupid psychological explanation. Cheaters can't be changed just as the saying goes "You can't turn a ho into a housewife."

Fool me once, same on you; fool me twice... and you know the rest. There will not and should not be anymore given opportunities. If a cheater can't realize what they are losing before committing such an asinine act, then someone else out there will.

Robbed at the GAS Pump

Ok gas has just reached $4.00 here in good ol' north cackalacky. I'm not a big fan of people being highway robbed at the pump. I mean gas, it is the means for everything, work, school, it is plain NECESSARY for transportation to exist. After thinking a few things over I've come to the conclusion that the high gas is just a conspiracy. But Bush in office and make all the poor people poorer and the rich people/ gas companies richer. Things will only change when the rich people start complaining about the price of gas, or its cutting into profits. For a while there I thought that car companies were in cahoots with the oil companies because cars keep getting more expensive as a person wants to start to buy a car to get more MPG. Well thats not true anymore, especially when car companies like FORD are cutting the production of its pickup trucks and SUV's because its loosing profit. The big companies loosing money, big Whoop. Why? Because the federal government is quicker to bail out a declining fortune 500 than it is to make sure that the American people can survive daily. Another thing is hybrid and electric cars. It's bad that people can barley afford one car but it is becoming more of a need to get these alternative cars, which are very overpriced because of supply and demand. When demand becomes high because of these gas prices, the prices of these automobiles will skyrocket. I would love to trade in a current vehicle for the alternative but that isn't possible, I'd be out $11,000 and that would be added to the current value of the alternative. So my hybrid vehicle would cost me $11,000 more that the actual value for starters. There has to be a way of getting the necessary technology out there, its called mass production, but somethings or some companies are putting a hold on the mass production of technology that would greatly help the American public all to makes sure they continue making a profit. This is where president Bush comes in again. He's going to leave office a very rich man because of the chaos he's creating with the rising gas prices, declining economy, loss of jobs, high home foreclosures, etc.

Why of all the years has gas been such of an importance? I have never had to choose between food and gas, ever in my life. I remember when there was a time in which $5 bux would get me almost half a tank. What is the world coming to? The economy won't get any better if the people that are supposed to be stimulating the economy can't. And what the hell is 600 dollars going to do, what is that going to stimulate, the the way gas prices are heading, 600 covers 6 tanks or less of gas. That stimulus check on stimulates anger what is the federal government thinking? Oh wait, I know, give the people money and they will forget that the gas is increasing. The but a bandaid will not work. Open your eyes people something has to be done. What is happening to the American people is highway robbery. Because of GAS everything is taking a hit: food industry, travel industry, electricity. This is all parts of life. I guess I won't be taking that road trip across the US anytime soon, not until wages start to level back out with this spike in gas and food prices.

If you can't take the gas hike then here are some possible solutions to your gas problem: get a bike, walk, car pool, get a scooter (if its in your budget), picket against the rising gas prices (if you on the verge of loosing your job because you can't afford to get there), use public transportation if its available, or buy an electric or hybrid car( this is very expensive and the government isn't making it any easier for people to be able to afford these alternatives to gas).

Domestic Violence

According to domesticviolence.org any type of abuse of a person by another is considered domestic violence. It is usually necessary for victims to get out of the relationship and as safely as possible. Anyone can be a victim. Most happen to be women in abusive relationships but children are also victims, in watching and perpetuation of generational violence, which brings to mind the phrase "like father like son." So what about those single parents? Where do these children pick up the violent behaviors? Tv, video games, environment, genetics? There maybe many factors contributing to violence, but one thing is for sure is that no one should suffer through abuse because for love. Because if a person really loved you then the abuse would not happen. No love is worth loosing your life or your children to loose a parent over. I've witnessed my fair share of beatings to know that it isn't worth waiting for a person to change if they never do. The scary part about this is that growing up in such an environment desensitized me from future occurrences because I knew that no matter what my mom would go back to my dad. No amount of pleading and crying to stay away persuaded my mom enough, not until my parents got a divorce. Many abusive relationships make it to the divorce before somethings tragic happens. I honestly wished I had never bore witness to the brutality and violence but I did and that has made me very cautious around the guys that I had becomes involved with, there were many warning signs: wanting to control who I was around, not wanting me to continue activities even when they knew I had participated in activities before I'd met them, not wanting me to continue my education for fear of me making more money. But the key for me was the want to control every aspect of my life, and usually after a month or three of getting to know the person the true self came out, and I was able to comfortably leave the relationship. But there are many that aren't so lucky. Many people die at the hands of their abusers.
This mother urges anyone who thinks that someone they know is being abused to seek help, call 911, or check out this website for more information: www.domesticviolence.org

Jobless in America

With economy steadily declining and gas prices steeply increasing. It has become hard to get to work and better yet get a job. There is not enough money in circulation to aid the increasing problems that the American people are facing. Let's list, most people with over 10 years experience in a job are starting to loose their jobs. Where does this leave them? For one, without a job, and two lack of educational experience to get another job sooner. So what are most of the unlucky people doing? They are going back to school. Its odd that now it seems that the idea of becoming a professional student will come to actually of actually being a job. Why a job? Well is school will be needed to secure a job but yet an education can't guarantee a person a job because the great possibility of someone else being more qualified then that would me people would be in school indefinitely which leads to more people being labeled a student as a profession. Where does this leave most people? In debt in which debt will continue to accrue as long as people take out loans to further their education in order to further their chances of landing a secure jobs.

Nothing is secure and it is sad that people have to suffer the loss of jobs after so many years since graduating from high school.

Can't find a job? Well I can't help you because I can't find a job either. After scouring over hundreds and hundreds of job listings since September 2007 I haven't landed a job yet. I have a 4yr degree and working on a Masters. And you ask what went wrong with me? I don't know but I've even looking into taking other classes just to get certifications to get entry level jobs, but I have to wait for unemployment to be able pay for those extra certifications. I've even thought of dumbing down my resume to even make it seem that I've only graduated from high school and that's the only job that I would only be able to qualify for. I'm either over qualified or under-experienced for certain jobs. That eats away at my soul but I keep on ticking. I've even posted to babysitting, usually jobs left to teenage girls trying to make some spending money, but I'm a mom trying to make ends meet.

I think that this stimulus check the government will be sending out, mine will be spent in gas, driving around looking for job. How does that help me, a mom, whose sole means of employment will be a job as a professional student with no way of paying back those educational loans or advancing towards the achievement of the "American Dream." As an undergrad I was guaranteed upon graduation that my degree would give me a certain status within the world, I have yet to reap the benefits of that supposed status.

Dealing with divorce

Can a child really handle a divorce? Most sources say no and it could possibly have some similar outcomes as children of single parent households. Well if you were in my family you would understand the process of the divorce was much harder than the actual day the divorce was final. Given that I'm the oldest of four this presents itself with some statistics. When my parents divorced I was in middle school and the rest of my siblings were in the middle or just starting elementary school. Now given that I was older I had the majority of my time was spent with both my parents being available. Now here come the stats. 2 out of my moms children, including me, graduated from high- school. The other two did not but are either seeking or obtained a GED. Out of the first two to finish high school only one, me, has graduated from a 4-yr university. So this long and harsh divorced created limitations for my younger siblings, not having two parents readily available and not having the discipline of two parents greatly affected how we each were raised. This is seems a parallel to a single parent home. Well my mom was doing much of the raising, or at least she thought she was. There were numerous times in which I was left in charge of my three younger siblings for months on end. Does this mean that I failed my siblings because I couldn't get them to the level that I have been able to achieve thus far in my life? Such weight on the shoulders of the oldest child. Being responsible or not, I don't think that it is a child's responsibility to make sure that th raise their siblings right. That is a lot of unnecessary pressure that no one needs but millions of older siblings endure because they understand that the grass may be greener on the other side, or in better words, that grass exist on the other side.

Another point to divorce is that kids blame themselves for the break up. I totally understand this but that's not the case for my family. Domestic violence was the cause for this divorce. My parents were better apart than they are together and I think that the violence that my siblings an I watched growing up as children for two generations, our grandparents and our parents, was just something that we saw as normal. This so called normal view skewed when one finds that that's not how things should be.

With the divorce rate rising we will start to see the day in which the children of divorced parents and children of single parent homes will become interchangeable. This Mother does not approve of putting all adult responsibilities on a child or does not approve of thinking children understand the entire adult world. Parents should be honest with their children and don't let their children take the heat for whats going wrong in the adults life.

Mrs. Obama

It seems that after the Jeremiah Wright trouble, the media seems to want to find everything thing wrong that they can with Senator Obama. Can a person truly not go into politics with a blank slate as well as a positive background. Not saying that Obama is a blank slate, he has apparently been involved long enough to become a US Senator. Now The issues with Jeremiah Wright almost cost Obama the presidential race. All this hullabaloo about a few sound bites that are more than a 5 years old, that were taken completely out of context. Truthfully a person would have to listen to the entire sermon in order to understand why the reverend said what he said. To take the clips as the entire face value of what the reverend said is baloney.

Now on to the second issue Michelle Obama. If you don't know the womans name by now look it up. I'm pretty suer there are only a few Obama families around. Now her wuote may have been something along the words that she is finally able to say that she is proud to be an American. WOW. Big whoop right. Well so the white people this is an insult to the great nation that they built of the Blood, Sweat, and Tears of Black and Indians or can we refer to them as hyphenated Americans African Americans and Native Americans. Even with all that bad blood between people there is still the feelings that people can't truly understand what it means to be American. You want to know why? Well a huge percentage of people immigrate to the United States because there are looking to live the so-called "American Dream" but the people living here in poverty and barely able to make ends meet, can't even live the "American Dream" can anyone see the problem in that? So now the media is trying to spin the words of a woman because she just happens to be married to a presidential candidate. Yes the eyes are on her like an eagle. But I'm sure millions of people feel the same way just think back to Vietnam or any other time when the people of the United States weren't so proud of their country. Get over it we live in a time now in which United State citizens can be killed for being United States citizens, this is why people maintain dual citizenships so as to get such terrors. I'm sometimes proud to be an American. So there I said it. It has taken me a long learning process. One in which mixed raced peoples and minorities were once hated to group up in a country in which I don't have to worry so much about stepping on land mines or being bombed in the middle of the night. It is for those reasons that I'm glad I'm on the American side of things because I will be able to live in a land that claims to be the land of the 'free.' Can I be truly proud to be of a people that mistreat their most impoverished and where animals have more rights that minority people's. For that I can say I'm only a Fair-weather American. I can only be proud when it benefits me and so far I have yet to reap and benefits in a country which my ancestors and I have sewn out Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

"The only thing to fear is fear itself." Whites fear blacks coming into power so much that they are willing to make up anything about the Obama's in order to make sure that he does not become the Commander in Chief of the White United States of America. Scared people to scary things in order to keep certain things from happening. The Obama's are the power couple that actually reflects the meaning of true family and American values. What makes them so scary is they haven't broken any laws unlike some of our former presidents. The are the force to be reckoned with and the force to make the necessary changes that all Americans need in order to follow in that pursuit of happiness.
So Yes, "Lay off his wife"

Better late than NEVER

So Senator John Edwards finally endorses Senator Barack Obama. It's about freaking time. I mean it seems as if Senator Edwards was waiting to see who would get closest to winning so as to enhance his chances of being a VP. There is nothing wrong with that because some sources state that his decision would make or break his career.
On the other hand I think that Senator Edwards is ready for this race to be over so is the rest of America. Because this long drawn out campaign has made everyone tired and lose sight of the BIG PICTURE:

That's right no continual reign of republicans in the white house. Seriously there needs to be a change, when you have people that used to make six figures that are struggling to survive. That means that the people used to struggling are doing even worse. And Don't get me started on food and gas prices. I mean the average Joe like myself is just getting by, only by the skin of their teeth. There is no future when America is struggling to survive.
Yay! for the endorsements because at least Edwards can get others to see Obama's vision for everyone's future.

What it means being the oldest child

I do not really know what I need to be writing about therefore for the next few hours or days I will be trying out some topics that I'm interested in writing about.
First and foremost. I'm a mom of two. A son I had the pains of labor for and my niece I gained custody of when she was an infant herself. Now I've gone through all the trials and tribulations of caring for my niece full time and since shew as a wee little thing. But as truly being a first time parent it seems to me that I've grown accustom to the things that happen and should be happening for the child. So much so that it seems as if the thrill is gone. Many people would know what I'm referring to when I talk about the thrill of parenthood. All the First! But with me there is no surprise. I've been seasoned. My partner feels that my son is being robbed of the title of being the first. I can understand that to a certain degree. He's the first Grandboy on both sides of his family. But my question is: Is missing out on the first really all that important? My niece is three years older than my son. I've been through everything with her and nothing has changed with birth of my son other than the introduction of sibling jealousy.
For me, I was the oldest of 4. I hated it. I had to share everything and there was nothing I could call my own because I had to share. My partner on the other hand is the oldest of 2. He didn't have the same problems as me and I could list the grand differences of why we both had such difference in relating to my son and niece should be treated. The most striking part is that my parents are divorced and life growing up was very hard( this will be in a later post) but his life on the had has two parents celebrating over twenty years of marriage. I'm sure there were bumps along the way but they are a thriving companionship.
I honestly don't think that my son will be missing anything if he lacks the title of being the oldest child in this household. As far as I'm concerned I plan to make sure that things are equal between the two even though I know this will present me with many obstacles ahead. Right now I know that things can be shared and that there are certain things that must be different and we will tackle these differences as they present themselves. Just because my niece is the oldest does not mean that I will make her do more than her share of what is expected from her. My niece reserves the right being the first born girl and my son the right to being the first born boy. So they both are first and they both are the oldest. I will be learning a lot from this situation as I continue to perfect my parenting skills.

I guess we will be seeing more OBAMA

Obama wins NC. Maybe he will be the first African American to win the presidential election and the second democrat to win the backing of NC and other states that will be formally known as the RED states. This will be a step towards the greatest change that this country needs. The United States is in need of a great re-vamping and we have the perfect man to do it. The best man to lead by example for future leaders.

This Mama is for Obama

For this entire presidential race I have been on the fence about who to vote for. Simply because history has proven disastrous because people can't make up their mind, in essence those independent voters, and that ruins anything- meaning that Bush junior served two terms. Now at the start of the presidential nominees I guess that people were assuming that it would be a quick run and everything would be over and we'd all be voting again in November. BUT analyst were wrong as most always are.
Now the election is coming up in November and democrats are acting as if it is already November and it's just going to be Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama on the ticket but this is not the reality. There is McCain who's just breezing by and will ease on down to the White house in November if people don't get behind a person and just stick with that person. Right now it is Clinton and Obama battling for states and in doing so there will be the creation of a new color and the State will either be red, blue, or purple. This overdrawn out democratic battle will be the downfall of the party and then we would be in for another 4-8 years of declining society.
I urge people to get out and vote!!! Our livelihoods and sanity depend on it. Seriously there needs to be a dramatic change in the ways that things have been going and Obama represents that change. He can be the new face of our painful society and he is the only one that has the ability to heal the wounds created in our meager history. He is the representation that the people are ready for something different. Get out of the old mentality or you will be 'left behind.'
Obama is Mother Approved.
